All-on-4® Implant-supported Dentures That Fit Your Lifestyle

Middle-aged smiling woman with glassesOver 35 million people are missing all of their teeth. If you are one of them, visit Dr. Chris Reger to learn about the All-on-4® implant procedure. Almost like the legs on a table, four strategically placed dental implants can securely support an entire upper or lower denture. Implants are small titanium posts surgically placed in the jaw. Once the implants are secured, the surrounding tissue will naturally heal around the implants. The result is a strong, permanent bond. Best of all, All-on-4® can often fully restore your bite's function in just one day. To learn more about whether All-on-4® is right for you, contact our San Antonio practice to schedule a consultation with Dr. Reger.

The All-on-4® Method

As your general dentist, Dr. Reger will personally oversee the entire All-on-4® procedure. He will begin by discussing the procedure with you, taking time to answer all of your questions. Dr. Reger wants his implant patients to fully understand the pre- and post-operative aspects of the procedure, so they can make an informed choice and know what to expect. He will also conduct an evaluation to make sure you are in good enough health for the procedure to be successful.

If you determine that All-on-4® is the right option for you, the dentist will use a 3-D computed tomography (CAT) scan to capture a detailed image of the underlying structures of your mouth. The scan will assist him in determining the position of your implant posts and design of your dentures.

The Procedure

A metal guide will be created to ensure optimal positioning of your implant posts. Special software will help the dentist create this guide specifically for your case. After any necessary extractions, an oral surgeon will use the surgical guide to position four to six implant posts in your mouth. The surgeon will add a slight tilt to the plate, to lessen the stress on the individual implants and better mimic the structure of natural teeth. Generally, four implants are sufficient to support a denture on the upper or lower jaw. However, additional implants will be placed if necessary, at no additional cost.

Usually, a denture can be placed on the implants the same day of your surgery. All-on-4® offers unprecedented convenience for denture patients who do not want to undergo multiple visits. Furthermore, placing immediate dentures means that the patient leaves the office with a full set of teeth. He or she can return to work and daily activities almost immediately. Once All-on-4® implants are secured, they are immediately functional.
